GOOD CHOICE--SAVORY SNACK Mar 03, 2012
By DK I have tasted each flavor of the new Gardenbars and I must say I like each one. It's nice to have a snack or mini-meal option that is not sweet. There are granola bars, and protein bars, and fruit bars, etc., and all are sweet. I wanted something that would be a change from all that, and I've found it in Gardenbars. Filling, satisfying, and less calories and fat than many other alternatives. I like nuts, but it takes a lot of them to fill me, plus Garden bar is more balanced, with protein/carbs/fat all in a neat little bar. My favorites are the Japanese and the Mexican flavors, but I like them all. The Italian and Indian were not too spicy, just enough to be Italian and Indian! Give these a try. I've had one and a glass of milk for a mini-lunch when I didn't want to eat a lot.

I eat almost anything, and I hated these! Sep 10, 2012
By S. Griffin I am not a picky eater, to say the least. I really didn't like these, I didn't even finish the last bar. I packed three of them for lunch during a long school day, so I've tried Japanese, Mexican and Indian. These tasted mostly like salt, and the indian one (for example) just tasted as if you had dumped a TON of curry powder on top of it. Pretty flat flavor profiles. I really wanted to like these, but they are not for me. As a final insult, they made me really, really gassy for some reason. I had to sit in class for 10 hours trying to hold it in all day. MISERABLE. I would say, if you are intrigued by them, pick a day you can fart in peace!

A little sweeter than I was hoping, but still a tasty and most welcome product. May 04, 2012
By Daniel H Votava I've often complained that there isn't a type of "people chow" out there that's not centered on chocolate or some other SWEET flavor, so I was very excited to hear about these. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. However, upon trying them I made the disappointing realization that "savory" is not the same as "not sweet." Each one has a mild sweetness to it that suits some flavors better than others (e.g. Japanese vs. Mexican).
As expected, they have a chewy texture that is just like a traditional granola bar. This doesn't suit their thin, 3 x 3.5 x 0.25 inch rectangular shape, as they tend to sag, making me worry that gravity might deprive me of a bite of my savory granola ba-- err, sheet. It would have helped if the manufacturer simply made them more bar-shaped.
While the flavor and consistency have their pluses and minuses, their ability to provide a quick meal is an unequivocal plus. I ate two at noon and didn't start feeling even peckish until 5:30. And at 190 calories apiece, that strikes me as a good way to keep one's intake under control. I'm looking forward to spacing these out more evenly throughout my shifts so I can feel fuller for longer.
I truly hope these catch on and that they keep tweaking the flavors, as this product has some great potential.

On the salty side, good idea but needs some tweaking Apr 24, 2012
By Hope T. I was very excited to see a snack bar that wasn't sweet. I ordered the variety pack to try out all the flavors. The first up was the Japanese. It was pretty much what you'd expect. Soy flavor was the prominent flavor. The consistency was nice -- chewy but firm enough to hold a bar shape. I tried the American flavor today and was disappointed. It tasted a bit like the Japanese one and was on the salty side. I'm curious to taste the other flavors and see how they vary from the first two.
When reading the ingredient list, I liked what I saw -- plenty of good stuff!
Bell pepper taste Mar 25, 2013
By Teena I thought the idea of a non-sweet energy bar was great. I tried the Japanese flavor at a home & garden show and I could taste the bell pepper in it. I can't eat bell pepper and I am very sensitive to the taste, and ALL the flavors of this product have bell pepper. Just FYI for anyone else who doesn't like peppers (I know I'm not the only one!)
